Bob Acker
Robert (Bob) Acker is former Deputy Fire Chief for the City of Plano, Texas. Bob is a Chief Fire Officer Designate (CFOD) graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer program. He has been active in the US Congressional Fire Service Caucus, and has served as a member of the NFPA standards committee, and as a reviewer for various national fire service technical publications. He also served as the Accreditation Officer for the Plano Fire Department’s original accreditation process leading to accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International. Bob has frequently served as a guest lecturer at various professional events on a variety of issues and he served as an Adjunct Instructor at Collin County Community College in their Fire Science program for 20 years, where his responsibilities included both instruction and course development for progressive college level fire science program. He implemented computer based simulations for strategy and tactics courses. Bob holds a BS in Mathematics from Southern Methodist University. He holds Master Firefighter, Master Instructor and Basic Fire Inspector designations from the Texas Commission on Fire Protection and is active in the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the National Fire Protection Association, and the Texas Fire Chief’s Association.
