Andy Kancel

Andy Kancel proudly joined the SGR team following a distinguished career of over 34 years in law enforcement. He began his career in North Richland Hills, Texas, where he progressed through the ranks to Assistant Chief of Police. He was selected as the Chief of Police for Flower Mound, Texas, where he served from 2013 through 2024.

Under his leadership, the Town of Flower Mound was consistently recognized as one of the safest cities in the country. Andy holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership, graduating Summa cum Laude. He is a graduate from the FBI National Academy, the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development program, the Police Supervision Course and the Advanced Management College at the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration, and the 44th Session of the Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University.

Andy holds membership with International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Texas Police Chiefs Association, and the North Texas Police Chiefs Association, where he served on committees, and the executive board, serving as president from 2020 to 2021.
