Darlene Freed

Sr. Vice President of Organizational Development

Darlene Freed began her public service in Grapevine in the early 1990’s
when she became a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission,
which she served on for 5 years. This experience gave her the knowledge
and confidence to run for the Grapevine City Council where she went
on to proudly serve for 27 years (9 years as Mayor Pro-Tem). During her
tenure, Grapevine has grown from a small, charming town to a nationlly
recognized destination and thriving community while at the same time
preserving it’s rich history. Darlene’s community service has included being
an active member and serving in leadership roles such as Past President of
the Grapevine Rotary Club, D/FW Airport Board of Directors and the
Baylor Grapevine Hospital Board of Directors.

Darlene’s thoughtful approach to leadership is paired with a passion for
humility, open-mindedness, and a genuine respect for differing viewpoints.
She understands the weight of public service, the need for a strong
ethical foundation, and the courage to make difficult decisions for the
long-term good of the community.

Her passion for public service and her many years of experience navigating
city government have uniquely prepared her to support and mentor other
elected officials.

Her belief is simple but powerful….“When you hold yourself to the highest
ethical standards and stay true to serving the people honestly and fairly, you can make
a lasting difference.”
