Are you a strategic, hands-on engineering leader ready to elevate public infrastructure in a growing Florida community? Highlands County is seeking a dynamic County Engineer to lead capital projects, transportation and stormwater systems, and a multidisciplinary team of 44 professionals.

Located in Central Florida, Highlands County blends small-town charm with natural beauty—featuring 113 lakes, 16 golf courses, vibrant festivals, and the Sebring International Raceway.

We’re looking for a candidate who is:

  • Skilled in civil, transportation, and stormwater engineering
  • Experienced in capital project planning, compliance, and budget oversight
  • A strong communicator with public sector and team leadership experience

Key Projects Include:
Sebring Parkway Phase IV, 4-lane expansion of W. College Drive, Stormwater Master Plan, and more.

REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible engineering experience
  • Florida Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain

PREFERRED:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Public Administration, or related field
  • Experience in a governmental or public works setting
  • Supervisory experience over multidisciplinary teams

Salary: $86,922 – $139,075 DOE/DOQ
