The Communications Department oversees public relations, internal/external communications, media outreach, event planning, and policy advocacy.

• Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Communications Officer will:
• Develop and manage JWB’s communications strategy
• Lead a growing department of 8 staff, including Public Policy
• Oversee crisis communications and media relations
• Advance brand awareness and stakeholder engagement

Represent JWB with elected officials, partners, and the public

The ideal candidate will have experience in leading communications strategy for public or nonprofit organizations. They will demonstrate:

• Emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Technical expertise in media relations, digital campaigns, and policy advocacy
• Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels

Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or related field
• Minimum eight (8) years of senior-level experience in communications or public affairs
• Experience in media strategy and crisis communications

Preferred:

• Master’s degree in Communications or Public Administration
• Experience with Florida government or nonprofit agencies
• Familiarity with Florida Sunshine Laws and public records compliance

The salary range for this position is $124,477.19-164,932.28 DOE/DOQ.
