Klamath Falls is a growing community with an urban growth boundary of more than 45,000 residents known for its strong sense of community, economic opportunity, and exceptional outdoor lifestyle. Often called the “City of Sunshine,” it enjoys nearly 300 sunny days per year and offers a high quality of life.
The Development Services Department provides planning, engineering, and airport services that guide the City’s growth and development. The department oversees land use, zoning, infrastructure planning, engineering, and airport operations. Reporting to the City Manager, the Development Services Director will:
- Lead and manage Planning, Engineering, and Airport divisions
- Oversee long-range planning and capital improvement programs
- Develop policies, budgets, and organizational strategies
- Serve as liaison to economic development agencies and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and land-use requirements
The City is seeking an innovative and collaborative leader with experience in community development, engineering, planning, or a related field. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can effectively engage with elected officials, staff, and community stakeholders.
Required qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, planning, engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience (or master’s + 3 years)
- Valid driver’s license (Oregon required within 30 days of hire)
Preferred qualifications include:
- Professional Civil Engineer (PE) or AICP certification
- Experience in local government and economic development
- Experience working with airport operations or aviation-related projects
The salary range is $128,796 – $185,412 (with a hiring range of up to $153,696), depending on experience and qualifications.
